Louisiana Trans Oral History Project

Y’all! We Got a Grant!

We are thrilled to say that we were granted funds from the Louisiana Endowment of the Humanities to continue our work.

The grant will enable three exciting developments:

  1. The creation of full interview transcripts, which will be posted on this site and available to everyone (with permission of the interviewees, of course);

  2. Two public panels, aimed at a general audience, these will promote a wider awareness of the Louisiana transgender communities. The first aims to center the voices of Black and Brown transgender Louisianians and will focus on the role of storytelling and documentation as well as trans joy/resilience. The second panel will include oral history practitioners and give a national context to the work of LaTOHP;

  3. Launch a podcast to highlight selections of interviews for a wide audience. We’re aiming to complete six episodes during this grant. It’s gonna be called “Trans Louisiane", it’s gonna be great.

Much more information about all of these coming in the months ahead.

Stay safe, and stay with us!
